Ruby The Hatchet
Ruby The Hatchet
Philadelphia psychedelic doombringers RUBY THE HATCHET are one of heavy music's finest on-the-rise bands. Evoking a decade's worth of maturity gained in just a few short years, the genesis from the band's 2011 self-titled EP to present day has been nothing short of stunning. The group's music fuses the sinister tactic of brainwash with blistering riffs and the rebellious mood of sorcery, re-imagining a different path for metal. Seething and spitting, RUBY THE HATCHET hammers behemoth waves of dogma and doom, merging precision and patience with a sinister foot-stomping, head-bobbing power.

Vocalist Jillian Taylor's serpentine vocals, scene-stealing howls and macabre lyrics conjure holistic atmospheres over swollen grooves that grow and flow in circles and waves. Guitars crunch, wail and burn. Heavy-handed and hypnotic in equal parts, RUBY THE HATCHET creates the perfect shape shift between psych density and metal grandiosity, representing something utterly imposing; primeval and oppressively heavy while maintaining a level of breathless intensity over the course of the full album. This hex is for you.
Pharlee
Pharlee
Pharlee is a heavy-fuckin’-riff-ridin’ machine. The group was forged in the middle of the white-hot psychedelic jam scene in San Diego, California by members of Harsh Toke, Sacri Monti and Joy. Propelled by the powerfully emotional voice and fiery wail of blues-rock banshee Macarena Rivera, Pharlee calls its energetic sound "psychedelic speed rock". Highly influenced by diverse acts such as Judas Priest, Betty Davis, Deep Purple and Motörhead, Pharlee's sound is equal parts soul-scorching, boogie-woogie bar rock and shadowy psych urgency. Confident and commanding, the band's debut LP is a dynamic and cracking hard rock album and a first-hand account of the blood, sweat and tears that have gone into the making of this head-turning new band.
Volcano
Featuring trailblazing musicians from San Diego’s groundbreaking psychedelic scene, including members of Harsh Toke, JOY and Loom, Volcano merges Afro-beat rhythms, electric rock guitar and dance floor grooves to forge a sound that is totally new, yet instantly recognizable. On its dynamic debut, 'The Island', Volcano explodes, delivering polyrhythmic, serpentine, yet highly listenable songs that flow like lava and are at once, cool as ice and hot as hell. The album mines inspiration from global greats including Fela Kuti, The Witch, and The Funkees, the krautrock mind-jams of Can and Neu!, James Brown's funk and the rhythmic complexity of the Allman Brothers. Much like its members themselves, the music of Volcano is constantly moving and mutating; a modern fauxback sound that pays homage to the all-time greats, while forging a distinctly modern path towards the future.
