TV Baby
TV Baby
TV Baby is the new project from Matthew McAuley and Brain McPeck. Matt and Brain, the founders of downtown electro-noise band A.R.E. Weapons, wanted to trade jobs: Matt would be the frontman, singing and playing sax; Brain would play guitar and synth. TV Baby is the spawn of the boys’ free-jazzy, no-wave leanings, their love for the roots of rock and roll, and their desire to keep the spirit of NYC pioneers like Suicide and the Contortions alive. At points wild, loose, and improvised, their music includes covers of Elvis, Bo Diddley, and Little Richard, set to a backdrop of squealing, stuttering guitars, vintage synths, and metal machine backbeat.

TV Baby has explored alternate methods for presenting their music. They performed a rock opera in New York and Berlin with the artist Spencer Sweeney and choreographer Maria Hassabi. Their first record, published by Aaron Bondaroff and Al Moran’s OHWOW imprint, was released as an artbook with contributions from 40 downtown artists. Their latest release is a limited-edition 7” record with cover art by Spencer Sweeney, available from aNYthing.

TV Baby is currently in the studio with producer Gabriel Andruzzi of the Rapture, completing their sophomore album.
Night Street Saints
Night Street Saints is a new project composed of long time friends and native New Yorkers fronted by Johnny Scuotto, Gregory Roberts (guitar/synth), Shane Bastien (bass), Maxfield Panish (violin), and Miles Spillane (drums). Night Street Saints pulls from a range of influences from Leonard Cohen to Iggy Pop, and along with Scuotto’s lyrically driven vocals and distinct performance, the band delivers a compelling experience.
