Vampire Belt
Vampire Belt
Formed in 2002 in western Massachusetts, VAMPIRE BELT is Bill Nace on guitar & electronics and Chris Corsano on drums & occasional electronics. Early on, they self-released a couple of CDRs of lo-fi blow-outs, something like a mangled car wreck at the intersection of hardcore and free jazz. Tours followed and then, in the early/mid 00's, Nace and Corsano phased partially out of Vampire Belt duo-mode in favor of collaborations with people like Jessica Rylan, Paul Flaherty, Steve Baczkowski, Okkyung Lee, Greg Kelley, Mats Gustafsson, Thurston Moore, Dredd Foole and Bill Orcutt. But in 2014 they made good on a 9 year-old promise to Ben Chasny to record a Vampire Belt album for his Hermit Hut label, resulting in the duo's first LP: Unfit Structures. It's not such a far cry from their obliterating early CDRs: improvised high-energy outbursts with spontaneously-structured forms imploding just as soon as they begin to solidify.
Samara Lubelski & Bill Nace
SAMARA LUBELSKI - Player of multiple instruments within the broad waters of song, abstract improvisation and long form drone, Samara is best known as a solo artist with seven full-length releases, but she has also been involved in various art-music provocations; Hall of Fame, Tower Recordings, MV/EE, a duo with Marcia Bassett, as a member of Thurston Moore’s band, and in her associations with the long-standing German collective Metabolismus.

BILL NACE is an artist and musician based in Western Massachusetts. He has collaborated with an extraordinary range of musicians, including Michael Morley, Mats Gustafsson, Joe McPhee, Chris Corsano, Jooklo Duo, Chris Cooper, John Truscinski, Thurston Moore, Jake Meginsky, Jessica Rylan, Paul Flaherty, Wally Shoup, and Kim Gordon, with whom he regularly plays as one half of the duo Body/Head. Nace’s range has been described as “ veering from sculptural, almost Remko-Scha-esque chime to Loren Connors-style elegance in only a few short moves.” (Mimaroglu Music, 2010).
Leila Bordreuil, Daniel Carter & Chris Corsano
LEILA BORDREUIL is a Brooklyn based cellist and composer from Aix-en-Provence, France. She works in the realm of Noise music, improvisation, New Music and sound-art. Her cello playing is often improvised, and mainly focuses on texture variations and a collage of phantom overtones and pitched utterances. Bordreuil's collaborative projects include duos with Michael Foster and Tamio Shiraishi, a trio with Sean Ali and Joanna Mattrey, and the no-wave band “Signal Break”.

Since the 1970's, multi-instrumentalist DANIEL CARTER (tenor, alto & soprano, trumpet, clarinet, flute...) has been infiltrating and subverting every form of music operating on the grassroots level in New York City. Daniel has played a major part in transforming isolated, competitive musicians of New York into the beginnings of a community. He began playing in New York in the early '70s with people like Bob Moses, William Parker, and Sun Ra. In 1981, Daniel joined Other Dimensions in Music, and a decade later helped form the quartet Test, who for 20 years were one of New York City's greatest underground bands, figuratively and literally -- they often performed in subway stations where their sound would rival an oncoming train.

CHRIS CORSANO is a drummer who's been working at the intersection of collective improvisation, free jazz, avant-rock, and noise music since the late 1990s. He's toured and recorded with saxophonists like Paul Flaherty, Akira Sakata, Joe McPhee, and Evan Parker; guitarists such as Jim O'Rourke, Sir Richard Bishop, and Nels Cline; and also one-of-a-kind artists Björk and Jandek.
